Finishing up a two week backpacking tour of the Baltics with a few days in St Petersburg back in 2017 was a proper trek, and getting the visa cost an absolute fortune.
But evenings like this made it worth every penny. I lugged my tripod out late to catch the sunset, shooting the line of cars heading home along Admiralty Embankment with smoke and steam pouring out of the Vasileostrovskaya Cogeneration Plant in the background.
Hard to believe what Russia has become since then, I was lucky to be able to visit it back then, I don’t know if I’ll ever get the opportunity again.
